It all Leads here… in Montreal
Finalist project in the BioDesign Challenge.
This was a student-led collaboration between Asher Woodhead (Biology Major), Ē정 (Ceramics Major), Zoe Katz (Synthetic Biologist), Kathleen Hon (Synthetic Biologist) , Anya Tchernikov (Creative Writer).
Inspired by corals as natural biofilters, a portable microbial fuel cell filter was created using Arctic marine bacteria Stuzterimonas and Shewanella to transform lead into an insoluble form while producing green energy. This innovative water filter also functions as an art object, bridging the gap between public health and artistic engagement, making clean water and art more accessible to the community.
